He finally settles atop one of Paris's larger department stores a good distance away from the action—a favorite of Chloe's where she liked to drag him to go shopping at least a couple times a month. Behind them, a neon sign flashed the department store's name.
It isn't until he sets Piper down that he feels his arms turn to noodles, but he's good at not letting it show. ]

It all happens rather quickly, including Piper's reaction. He's just put his foot up on the ledge when Piper steps forward too and catches him with her words, putting emphasis on them, power into them. ]

That being said, Cat can only resist for a moment, flailing at the edge of the roof with eyes wide like a scared rookie. He gasps, but something washes over him then, an expected warmth pulsing through his body. ]

He doesn't remember stepping calmly down from the ledge, nor turning to face Piper, staring like he's waiting for more orders; yet that's exactly where he finds himself when the spell wears off.

He narrows his eyes. The tone drains from his voice, leaving only a flat remnant of his usually colorful and animated self. ]

[ She heads for the ledge completely unperturbed by the height OR Cat Noir's expression, and instead gives him a look half-expectant and half-determined with just a bit of mirth squeezed in between. ]
So what's it gonna be, bring me along where you can keep an eye on me, or leave me behind to get into gods know what kind of trouble?
[ She's grinning, knowing that the choice is no choice at all, but she's determined to do this. ]

Sure, no problem. Alright, Tom Cat, let's go deal with an akuma.
[ And so that's exactly what they did. It took a bit to find their stride with Piper in the mix, but eventually thanks to a mix of teamwork and Ladybug's Lucky Charm™ they were able to take down the Akuma and had parted ways, mostly because of Ladybug's time nearly being up, but Piper could tell by the look on her face that the next time she saw the heroine she was going to have to answer some Questions.
Meanwhile, as the three split up Piper took to a fire escape to get on top of a nearby roof, and waited. She'd promised an explanation and she was sure that Cat Noir would be finding her sooner rather than later, so she might as well stick close.
Sure enough it wasn't long before the tell tell clunk-clunk-clunk of his staff on concrete and stone could be heard, and then there he was, popping into view. Piper turns to face him calmly. ]
And none the worse for wear. See, Tom Cat?

Ladybug's powers really are amazing.
The metallic clang from his staff finally comes to a stop when he spots Piper, and he cracks his usual Cat Noir trademark smile. ]
Yeah, yeah. Not bad, chère.
...But I didn't come all this way just to hear "I told you so."

Well, it is what it is, for better or for worse. Better in this case.
At his comment, getting straight to the point, Piper goes to take a seat on the roof, back bracing against a chimney as she looks up at Cat Noir. Now that the urgency is gone, shit, she really hopes her earlier actions DON'T come back to bite her. Trust is something she finds a fine line to walk when her powers get involved. She has no doubt that someone less morally ambiguous would find her abilities unsettling, but she supposes she hadn't stopped to wonder where Cat might fall on that spectrum since he'd presented himself as so easy going. Now she hopes she hasn't just burned a bridge still technically under construction. ]
Yeah, I kinda figured you'd have a few questions. Sit with me? I promise, no marching orders unless you ask me to.
[ If he asks for a demonstration, that's fair game. ]

It feels...well, a little awkward. Not because of Piper, but because he doesn't generally make it a habit to get comfortable when he's transformed. But Plagg's eaten his fill, and he trusts his friend won't let him down. ]
Gotta admit: the moment's kind of a blur, so I don't even know where to start.
All I know is that I was about to vault off the roof, aaand... then I was staring at you.

Yeah... So... Sorry about that. I try not to use it out of the blue like that, but honestly, following you was one of those "easier said than done" things.
[ So, she'd needed to stop him short. Still, she figures she owes him the courtesy of an explanation now, so no holds barred. She can't say why, maybe it's the superhero bit, but she trusts him enough to tell him. Something about him puts her a little more at ease than most strangers, too, maybe she feels a little more kinship than she first thought or let on? ]
At first I didn't know what it was, either. When I was younger I used to use it to talk people into giving me things. It always came back to bite me in the butt, but I didn't really care.
[ She leans her head back, gazing up towards the sky in reflection. ]
My relationship with my dad is pretty... I don't know, complicated doesn't really fit right, but... My point is, I did it for attention, and once I learned how powerful and dangerous it was I swore I wouldn't be so reckless with it. It kind of makes you stop and think about what you say before you blurt it out.
[ Someone who charmspeaks can't be careless and blurt out hurtful things, because the people they love may be compelled to believe it, or act on it. "I hate you!" or "I wish you weren't my dad!"... or worse... Yeah. It's definitely tempered her reactions, even if just subconsciously. ]

Even for Cat, who tends to be the less serious one when it comes to heroing, this is...more than he was prepared for. He draws in a breath as it sinks in, and it slowly dawns on him what she was really saying.
That she had the power of persuasion on her side.
That Piper being "irresistable" was way more literal than he had believed. ]
Sooo... wait, y-you— you really controlled me? This is really a thing?
You could've been like, "Hey, Cat, give me 100 euros," and I would've just...done it?

Some of her words finally sink in from before... about her father, about her power coming back to bite her, and while he's still not quite sure what to say, he knows she considers it both a gift and a curse.
He flashes a small smile. ]
